Tip on Optimizing Windows7

Step1: Virtual Memory Setting
If you pc get low ram, right virtual memory setting could save some of running speed, especially good for running big video games.
Go to Control Panel>System>Advanced-Performance-Settings>Advanced-Change>Custom Size.
Suggest Size: Ram that lower than 1G, the initial size should be double of it, for others the same size of the ram is good enough., and only set this for C driver.



Step2: Decrease running process
If a program is not important for the system don’t set it run while Windows start up. The amount of running processes while Windows start up is good to be less than 40 for desktop and 45 for laptop. If you see more than 60 process is running on Windows start. You might better think to decrease them.(tips: Do not run two or more different antivirus software, if you want to run one ,  uninstall or disable the one that is running first.)


Press Win+R, type msconfig then press Enter. Click the Startup tab, you can uncheck to disable programs you know to stop them run while Windows start. But be careful, programs that you don’t know might be import for touchpad wireless network input method etc. which are important for the pc to behave normal, so don’t disable if you’re not really sure, and some antivirus programs need to set in the programs they can be disable here.


Step 3: Disable some Services that is useless to you.
Press Win+R type services.msc then Enter.


Services that are safe to disable for normal users.
a. Services name: Remote Registry
Description: Enables remote users to modify registry settings on this computer.
Suggestion: Disable.

b. Services name: Secondary Logon
Description:Enables starting processes under alternate credentials.
Suggestion: Disable.

c. Services name: SSDP Discovery
Description:Discovers networked devices and services that use the SSDP discovery protocol, such as UPnP devices. Also announces SSDP devices and services running on the local computer.
Suggestion: Disable.

d. Services name: IP Helper
Description:Provides tunnel connectivity using IPv6 transition technologies (6to4, ISATAP, Port Proxy, and Teredo), and IP-HTTPS.
Suggestion: Disable if you don’t use IPv6 protocol.

e. Services name: IPsec Policy Agent
Description:Internet Protocol security (IPsec) supports network-level peer authentication, data origin authentication, data integrity, data confidentiality (encryption), and replay protection.  This service enforces IPsec policies created through the IP Security Policies snap-in or the command-line tool "netsh ipsec".
Suggestion: Disable.

f. Services name: System Event Notification Service
Description:Monitors system events and notifies subscribers to COM+ Event System of these events.
Suggestion: Disable.

g. Services name: Print Spooler
Description: Loads files to memory for later printing
Suggestion: Disable if you’re not or going to use any printer on this computer.

h. Services name: Windows Image Acquisition(WIA)
Description: Provides image acquisition services for scanners and cameras
Suggestion: Disable if you’re not or going to use scanners or digital cameras on this computer.

i. Services name: Windows Error Reporting Service
Description: Allows errors to be reported when programs stop working or responding and allows existing solutions to be delivered. Also allows logs to be generated for diagnostic and repair services.
Suggestion: Disable.

Step 4: Regularly clean browser history
For Internet Explorer: go to Tools>Internet Options>General-Browsing history–Delete.
